The first day of our third week of internship at Universitas Negeri Jakarta has arrived. Today, we officially stepped into SDN Rawamangun 12, the elementary school where I will practice teaching. Together with the elementary group and our supervisor Pipit, we arrived early, eager to meet our mentors.
Before arriving, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness, but those feelings quickly vanished as I entered the school grounds. The atmosphere was filled with the laughter and chatter of students, creating a pleasant and uplifting ambiance. Our mentors greeted us with warm smiles, and their positive energy was contagious as they introduced us to their daily work and the culture of SDN Rawamangun 12.
This first meeting not only provided valuable insights but also reignited my passion for this educational journey. I left feeling inspired, with a clear vision of the positive impact I want to create during my internship. I look forward to building meaningful connections with the students, making learning a fun experience, and creating beautiful memories that we will cherish together.

This morning, I visited SDN Rawamangun 12 Elementary School, where I was eager to participate in classes led by dedicated teachers.
The day began with a 5th-grade Science lesson taught by Mr. Abror, Hynee's mentor, on the engaging topic of "Simple Circuits." To kick things off, he had the whole class jump around to create a lively atmosphere, followed by a game called "Word Hunt." The students enthusiastically searched for electrical terms like "battery," "circuit," and "conductor." The classroom buzzed with excitement as they competed to find keywords, revisiting prior knowledge while sparking curiosity about electricity. The room was filled with laughter, fostering a fun learning environment that encouraged all students to actively participate and absorb knowledge with genuine enthusiasm.
Next, I attended a 4th-grade Math class led by Ms. Gita, Henrry’s mentor, where she had the students review "Fractions." In this session, the students worked in groups to tackle various dynamic games designed to reinforce their understanding of fractions. Ms. Gita skillfully facilitated discussions, encouraging students to share their thought processes and strategies. Her teaching approach not only made learning enjoyable but also deepened the students' comprehension of concepts, turning what could be a challenging topic into an engaging experience.
Finally, I participated in another 4th-grade Science lesson with Mr. Adi, my mentor, on the topic of "Elastic Force." This lesson was particularly exciting because it was entirely hands-on. The students conducted experiments with rubber bands and springs to explore how elastic force works. They measured how far a rubber band stretched under different weights and competed to see who could launch it the farthest. This activity not only helped them grasp the theory of elasticity but also encouraged critical thinking and problem-solving skills, allowing them to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications.
After these enriching classes, we gathered in the office to share our experiences. Through this observation process, I gained invaluable insights and skills. I realized how essential it is to place students at the center of the educational experience to maximize their potential. These days, we are actively preparing our teaching plans. Each morning, we gather with enthusiasm at the UNJ library, ready to dive into the whirlwind of planning. Our sessions include in-depth research, translating important texts, and brainstorming to generate creative ideas for engaging activities that will captivate our students.
For my part, tasked with teaching the lesson on “Magnets and Their Properties,” I have thoroughly researched magnets and their characteristics. I prepared various visual aids, including both magnetic and non-magnetic materials, and gathered relevant resources to ensure I have a solid understanding before teaching my students.
To ensure my presentation is both effective and inspiring, I focused on designing captivating visuals, sounds, and effects. I collected numerous videos and images related to the lesson to enrich the content. Concerned that using only English might hinder my students’ understanding, I decided to combine English with Indonesian. I believe this was the right choice, as it allowed my students to grasp the lesson better.
I also aim to create a highly interactive atmosphere by encouraging students to participate in group discussions and share their ideas freely. I believe that collaboration not only enhances their teamwork skills but also sharpens their critical thinking. To further enrich the learning experience, I designed worksheets and hands-on experiments that allow students to directly explore the properties of magnets, such as their ability to attract iron objects and the interaction between different poles.
My goal is not only to help students master the fundamental concepts of magnets, magnetism, and their applications in real life but also to inspire a genuine love for Science.
