Day 21 - | 21.10.2024 |

On Monday morning, marking the first day of the last week of our trip in Indonesia, our group arrived at SDN Rawamangun 12 elementary school to prepare for connecting the teaching devices for our first teaching practice. We received enthusiastic support from Bu Gita and Ba Abror in setting up the equipment, and with the help of the local teachers, everything was ready for us to enter the teaching hour.

That afternoon, after resting at the guesthouse, we moved into the practice room within the campus to finalize the last steps of our lesson. Here, the creativity and determination of each member were ignited, making me eagerly anticipate the practice day. I knew we had worked hard throughout this time.

At the end of a long day filled with activities, despite feeling somewhat tired, our spirits remained high. Once we got home, the group continued reviewing the lesson, preparing gifts for the students, and working with Hynee to complete her traffic light project. That night, we passionately practiced teaching together until late, filled with excitement for the next day.

Day 22 - | 22.10.2024 |

The first day of teaching for our elementary education group was truly exciting, with Henrry taking the lead. He taught the lesson on "Division" to the fourth graders, creating a positive atmosphere thanks to his thorough preparation and confident attitude.

In Henrry’s class, I saw the students eagerly participating in various activities, from solving problems on the board to tackling real-world issues, making the abstract concept of division come to life. The games at the end of the lesson particularly generated great enthusiasm, leading me to believe it was an effective teaching session.

Henrry's interactive teaching style cleverly combined games, images, and videos. He also prepared audio clips in Bahasa, making it easier for students to understand rather than just relying on English. This not only made the concepts more accessible but also turned learning into an enjoyable experience.

By the end of the class, the energy in the room was palpable. Laughter and conversations echoed as students celebrated their achievements, creating an atmosphere filled with a sense of accomplishment. To commemorate this joyful day, we all gathered for a group photo with the enthusiastic students and their dedicated teachers. That snapshot captured the spirit of the day—a perfect blend of learning, laughter, and excitement that will forever remain a cherished memory for us.

After Henrry's lesson, I learned from him the importance of comfort and a joyful spirit, which helped create a relaxed environment where students could easily absorb knowledge.

Day 23 - | 23.10.2024 |

On that day, Hynee's lesson titled Parallel Circuits and Miniature Models of Parallel Current" for the fifth grade was truly impressive. It was a hands-on class that she had poured her heart into, preparing meticulously from the presentation to the traffic light project she designed herself. I couldn't help but admire her determination; sourcing materials was quite a challenge for us foreigners, but Hynee skillfully sought help from friends to gather each necessary item for this creative model.

The classroom atmosphere was filled with excitement. Hynee employed active teaching methods, turning the learning space into a hub of creativity and exploration. The highlight of the lesson was when students designed and created their own miniature traffic light models. Laughter and enthusiasm echoed throughout the classroom, with not just the students, but also myself and other teachers eagerly participating in the creative process. I was truly impressed by the students' creativity; each model reflected their understanding and passion for the subject.

A few quick snapshots captured not only the bright smiles of the eager students but also the overwhelming sense of accomplishment that filled the room. This was truly a memorable experience for me, as I got to accompany and learn alongside the students.

Day 24 - | 24.10.2024 |

And finally the day I was looking forward to the most came, the day I got to practice teaching the lesson "Magnets and their properties" to fourth graders, under the guidance of mentor Adi. I had prepared very carefully and creatively, my goal was to arouse their curiosity and nurture their love of learning. When I entered the classroom, I felt a wave of excitement; I could feel that today was going to be a special day.

We started the lesson with a song and a game of "Bingo - Bingo" which created a lively atmosphere that immediately attracted the students' attention. I incorporated hands-on activities that allowed them to explore the fascinating world of magnets in an interactive way. The classroom was filled with energy as the students conducted experiments, testing which objects were magnetic and which were not. Their faces lit up with joy and surprise as they discovered the properties of magnets with their own eyes. The combination of exploration and fun made the lesson exciting and exceeded all my expectations.

The lesson went very smoothly, the students learned a lot, I also felt extremely happy, although I think I was not completely excellent, but this is a valuable experience for myself in the future.

After my teaching session, it was also the last day we went to SDN Rawamangun 12 Primary School. We gathered in the office to share our valuable experiences. Each of us took turns expressing our thoughts and the lessons we learned throughout the day. I felt especially proud of the teaching methods we applied. Our lesson plans were not only structured; they were designed to be creative and flexible, encouraging students to explore and learn independently. I found that the emphasis on hands-on activities and student-centered learning created a much deeper connection with the material.

During our sharing session, the feedback we received from SDN Rawamangun 12 and Bu Endang Primary Schools was overwhelmingly positive. The teachers expressed their appreciation for our enthusiasm and creativity in organizing learning activities, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere in the classroom. Hearing their kind words filled me with gratitude and further strengthened my commitment to the teaching profession.

To commemorate the day and preserve these wonderful memories, we took some group photos together. It was essential to capture those joyful moments, as they will certainly be cherished parts of my journey as a teacher. These snapshots will remind me not only of the joy of teaching but also of the connections I make with my students, which are at the heart of this rewarding profession.

Day 25 - | 25.10.2024 |

In the morning, our elementary group attended a workshop led by Ms. Endang. It was an enriching experience filled with insightful discussions and interactive activities. After the workshop, we moved to the fourth floor of the Kihajar Dewantara Building to say our farewells to our liaison officer (LO) and buddies.

On this special day, many teachers, supervisors, mentors, and buddies joined us to share their feelings and reflections. The atmosphere was warm and heartfelt, and as a token of appreciation, we exchanged souvenirs. We received school badges, a wayang figure (a symbol of the traditional Indonesian shadow puppet theatre), and each of us was gifted a “Batik” shirt, a traditional garment of Indonesia.

After the farewell ceremony, my friends and I returned to the workshop for further learning.

In the afternoon, guided by Ms. Mutia, we visited "Asinan Ny. Isye" in East Jakarta. We took numerous photos and had the chance to experience the traditional wedding attire of Sumatera Barat, complete with the "Suntiang" crown, an essential accessory of the outfit.

After our cultural experience, Ms. Mutia took us out for a delightful meal of “Asinan Sayur” and “Mie Juhi.” It was a wonderful way to end the day, and we bid farewell to Ms. Mutia with gratitude for her guidance and support throughout our journey.

This day was not just about learning; it was a memorable blend of education and cultural immersion that we will cherish for a long time.

Day 26 - | 26.10.2024 |

Our elementary team, along with our buddy Nurul and her friend Sherlin, set off on an exciting adventure. We took a bus and then a train to reach MONAS (National Monument). Upon arrival, we were greeted by the impressive sight of the monument, a symbol of Indonesia’s independence. We spent time exploring the area, taking plenty of photos to capture the moment.

After our visit to MONAS, we headed to the nearby National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. Standing 24 stories tall, the library was a sight to behold. We began our tour on the first floor, which features a museum dedicated to the history of the library.

As we made our way to the upper floors, we discovered study areas designed for research and learning. The atmosphere was vibrant, filled with students and visitors engaged in their studies.

One of the highlights of our visit was the exhibition of traditional Indonesian musical instruments displayed throughout the library. This added a unique cultural element to our experience, allowing us to appreciate Indonesia’s rich musical heritage.

This outing was not only educational but also a fun way to bond with our buddies while exploring significant cultural sites. We returned with wonderful memories and a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s history and traditions.

Day 27 - | 27.10.2024 |

Today, our group of students from Dong Thap University officially returns home. Last night, we eagerly packed our bags with great care. As usual, breakfast was served at the guesthouse, and we were ready for the journey to the airport to fly back to Vietnam.

Accompanying us are our buddy friends. On the bus to the airport, we sang together, enjoyed some snacks, and took photos to capture these final memories. While the joy of returning to our homeland is overwhelming, there's also a bittersweet feeling as we say goodbye to our close friends and the place we've called home for the past 27 days.

After checking in, our UNJ buddies treated us to lunch at the airport. The first restaurant we dined at in Indonesia became our farewell spot to this wonderful country. This trip concludes with a mix of emotions, but I cherish every moment, as it has not only been a journey of learning but also a chance to connect with good friends and dedicated teachers who have supported us throughout this experience.
